Events

CAMPUT’s annual conference is the pre-eminent energy regulatory conference in Canada. Each May, we bring the perspectives of regulators, utilities, academics, communities, Indigenous Peoples, NGOs, consumer representatives, and advisers and legal counsel to a single forum focused on the leading issues in the national and international regulatory community.

CAMPUT holds an Energy Regulation Course each summer, traditionally at the Donald Gordon Conference Centre at Queen’s University in Kingston, Ontario.  The course is open to members and non-members.

CAMPUT is an affiliate of The National Association of Regulatory Utility Commissioners (NARUC) in the US. NARUC is a non-profit organization dedicated to representing the State public service commissions who regulate the utilities that provide essential services such as energy, telecommunications, water, and transportation. NARUC’s mission is to serve the public interest by improving the quality and effectiveness of public utility regulation. NARUC holds summer and winter meetings, as well as an annual meeting.

CAMPUT is a member of the International Confederation of Energy Regulators (ICER) and supports the World Forum on Energy Regulation (WFER), which is held every 3 years. Montreal hosted the first WFER in 2000, and Quebec hosted the conference in 2012.

WFER VIII will be held in Lima, Peru, 21 – 24 March, 2023.

CAMPUT is a participant in the Regulatory Energy Transition Accelerator, an initiative to enhance the capacity of regulators to increase the speed of the clean energy transitions. RETA was launched by Ofgem during COP 26 and is now supported through a Secretariat at the International Energy Agency.
